When you vacation with friends you tend to talk a lot more during the trip. I'm out in California with my wife and best bud from high school who also happens to be the guitar player in my online band called "The BroadBand" his name is Duck and his wife Mrs. Duck are out here. Soo..we've been thinking about about writing a travel guide with great chapter titles. The one we have for this picture is "The Opposite of Suck." (We're done with San Diego and L.A. we're now up on a Bavarian Village called Solvang, onto Pizmo Beach next and then onto Monterey and San Francisco!!) I'm planning on doing a hotel/beach recap in the coming blogs too. We were at the freakshow melting pot of Venice Beach yesterday. Wow...if you need culture, strange looking people, and good music...skip the Celebrity Home Tour..go straight to Venice Beach!

THERE IS NO REASON TO DRIVE IN L.A..if you like keeping your sanity! It's the worst driving conditions I've ever encountered! The main thing to watch for is the stop and go. You'll be truckin' along at 75mph and then BOOM..stop in traffic! It happens constantly. So be ready. We have seen the sites though. The Sunset Strip, Hollywood Blvd..all that, but for music fans..make sure you go to the "Rock Walk." It's at the Guitar Center in Hollywood. Out in front of the store there's hand prints from a ton of the greats in music..just like the Hollywood Walk of Fame. For clubbers coming to California..bring your camera and take pictures of the "Britney Wannabes!" They are everywhere with the very short skirts and high heels that they don't know how to walk in! Very funny. (this a picture of me and my good comedian friend Sean Morey on his boat at the Marina Del Rey in the L.A. area)

Granted..I set out to see San Diego, Los Angeles, the coast, and San Francisco, but MAN there's too much to see! Did the San Diego Zoo thing today. Very awesome and very kid-friendly. I am always amazed when you go to place that is so organized yet so friendly. From the gate to the the tour bus..way nice. As for Pandas..ya gotta see these guys. You'll wait in the only big line in the Zoo, but it is worth it. I think I shot maybe 400 pictures just of the Pandas. Los Angeles is coming up...

Are you coming to California? I'm here now and wow! First of all..prepare to spend a lot of time in airports due to wildfires up in the northern part of the state (Napa Valley will be coming out with some smokey wines later I'm sure). We went to CWA airport in Mosinee at 5am yesterday and FINALLY got to San Diego at 11pm last night! I'm planning on posting a bunch while I'm out here mainly to point out some cool stuff for Wisconsin travelers and give you some tips. Tips from experience...here goes!!

So I'm driving in Madison this past weekend and BOOM I see this car!!! It's a Mini Cooper that has been modified to be a little "Oscar Mayer Weiner!!!" I have never seen this thing before..it was like a little smokie!! Funny and awesome! I love theme cars, marketing cars for companies. This one gets the Oscar Mayer message out there...

One of our travelin' listeners made it down to Lake Delton and the Dells over the weekend. SHOCKING, but the lake is STILL DRY!!! I say that jokingly because some reports are that the "lake will be filled back up in the next few weeks." Talk about dreaming...cripes. Anyway..she mentioned that "you can't believe all the stuff that is sitting at the bottom of the now dry lake bed." Chairs, anchors, fishing tackle, etc. My guess is that if you wanted to find some good lures..you could stock up a pretty big tackle box with what you could find in Lake Delton now. To check on the statis of all the roadways in southern Wisconsin..check Stacy's BloggerMouth here at wifc.com. It's the best info & maps for travel info and road closures due to flooding.

So you've all seen the horrible photos and video on Lake Delton in the Wisconsin Dells. I am SHOCKED on guesses of "only a few weeks" to fill it back up!" Please..get a grip, plan for at least a couple of years and very possibly..much more than that. Proof that strange weather is not just in Wisconsin. Check this out. This picture was taken in Montana on June 11th!! SNOW!!!

HEY..LONG TIME NO BLOG!!! How you doing? Did you stop coming here for a bit? I know I did, but it wasn't because of lack of things to say. We had some technically glitches to work out and NOW..we're all set and back at bloggin'...the journal of the net!! First, make sure you're up early tomorrow. We talked to Donna Summer, the Disco legend this morning!! We had her on fairly late in the show today (9:50am Central) and we'll have the interview on again Thursday morning at 6:45am. PLUS, are you dieting??? MAN..we have a few interesting people to talk to in the next few days. FIRST UP IS SOUTH BEACH DIET DOCTOR..Dr. Agatston. He's back!! We'll also have the author of the "LAGUNA BEACH DIET" (What's with all the beaches!!!???) And what foods do you avoid?? We'll have an expert on talking about that next Tuesday. Soo..get up to speed on diets and what the latest craze is on KALLAWAY ON THE RISE!! And hey...spread the word. The Blog is the thing. Now that I CAN..I'll put a bunch of fun stuff on here!

I'm always blown away with all the simple things that TAKE OFF on Kallaway On The Rise! I mentioned that I didn't see Chris Stanford, of "Wake Up Wisconsin" fame on Newsline 9..BUT I did see his hair..at the World's Largest Trivia Contest this past weekend. Well Chris gets wind that I said that on-the-air. Second wind I might add. It's always more of a juicy "he said, he heard" thing when you get second hand information! But long story short..LOOK AT THIS MAN'S HAIR! TV people always kick radio people's butt in the hair department. Yes, I'm filled with hair envy. Unlike my opinion..Chris feels that his hair in no way shape or form looks like the iceberg in Titanic. You be the judge and let me know at dave@wifc.com

The lovely Miss USA was on with us today! She's Miss Texas, she's Crystle Stewart, she's...gotta be suffering from multiply personalities already! Can you imagine if everybody called you one of several different names?? I can understand a nickname, but "Hey uh...Miss Texas..I mean USA..I mean Miss Stewart"..could drive you nuts after awhile. She was great and looks to raise awareness about breast cancer plus many other causes during her year as Miss....uh.....Miss....uh....Crystle?? Seriously..good luck girl!

Thought about it and now I'm not sure I'm going to do it. I was thinking about starting a "flickr photo group" so we could all take pictures, post them, and share among friends. But if the feedback is any indication..then there's not enough interest to do such a project. We just live in such a beautiful area and just think of of the snapshots you take at Packer games, fishing, unique little Wisconsin towns, etc..that's what I thought would be very cool to feature. We start a lot of topics on the radio show and you'll notice that if it's something everybody cares about or has an opinion then we go with it. BUT..if the topic doesn't generate any calls..we drop it like a hot potato. On the topic of sharing photos on flickr..I've yet to see the interest or the potato. Feedback? Hey PACKER FANS! Got the news about our first game out of the box this coming season. It's PACKERS VS. VIKINGS on MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL on SEPTEMBER 8TH!!! No pressure for Aaron Rodgers, right? Following the footsteps of an icon and it's the first frickin' game!!! Why couldn't we have Oakland for a scrimmage on a Thursday or something?? Oh Well. One thing you should do in the meantime is listen to this guy listed below in my blog here. He's name is Dustin Bogue. Good singer, good song about our man Brett Favre. Dig it when you can. Okay..it's time to ask. Digital SLR camera owners..I'm looking at getting a new nice camera. I love photography and video. I do take a bunch of pictures already with a little Canon point and shoot, but now it's time to make the leap. Which way should I go...Nikon or Canon???? I would include other name brands but what's the use. If you talk to professionals they will defend their camera to the death! I've talked to both Nikon and Canon lovers, but still can't decide what the coolest camera is. Let me know what you think at dave@wifc.com

Snow drifts get in the way of my golf game. That's why I'm soooo glad it's FINALLY spring!!! Timmy from the Crazy Guys travels from Green Bay to Florida on a fairly regular basis and the other day he told us that "when you hit the Wisconsin/Illinois border you start to see grass and less snow." GOOD..I say! The snow was great the first 15 months of winter, but enough is enough! HEY AND ALSO..when you get a second..take my web poll question about Brett Favre. We know now that the Packers will retire Brett's number this year sometime during the season..(you think you were crying when he announced his retirement..wait for that day Brett waves at the crowd at Lambeau and HE'S NOT IN THE ACTUAL GAME!!). My question for you is "will you try to get tickets to that game when Brett's number will be retired??" HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY! Remember it's also St. Balderick's Day with benifit events happening in Mosinee and Rhinelander for Kids with Cancer! Seems like a good day for inspiration. The people who are having their heads shaved for St. Balderick's Day. And way to go Tiger Woods! He won his 5th PGA tournament in a row. He now ties Ben Hogan for the most wins ever. I do have a poll question about this guy. My question..do you think PGA golf rookies are more likely to WANT to play because of Tiger or are they likely to get out of golf because they'll be up against Tiger??
